Volunteers
We are so thankful for all the Volunteers who help prepare for and work during the Picnic! This event would not be possible without you! Below is a list of what help is needed prior to the Picnic, as well as the list of Volunteers for during the Picnic!
Friday Night August 8th: Set-up starts at 5:00pm CDT at the Mariah Hill community and parish grounds. Tents, tables and stands are all set up this night.
Saturday Morning August 9th: Vegetable Cleaning, Chicken Cleaning and final set up start at 7:00am CDT. Bring pans, knives, and potato peelers. Many hands are needed for the preparation of the chicken dinners and soup. Lunch will be served.
Picnic Day August 10th: See the most updated Volunteer list below. If you are unable to work your shift or would like to sign up to volunteer, please call the Parish Office or Dionne Hanselman at 812-686-2407! The picnic starts at 9:00am CDT and ends with the Grand Raffle at 3:00pm CDT. After the raffle, all tents, tables, and stands are torn down, and the grounds are cleaned up. Everyone’s help is needed for quick clean up.

Donation Needs
We are also in need of donations for various stands at the Picnic. See the needs below, and donate if you can!
Baked Goods Stand:
For the Baked Goods Stand, we are looking for donations such as pies, cookies, cakes, breakfast rolls, canned jellies, salsas, fresh produce, homemade soaps, etc. Please bring your donation to the Baked Goods Stand on the day of the Picnic! The chairperson opens the stand at 7:00am CDT on picnic morning to collect all items. The items will be priced by the chairperson. If you would like to donate before picnic morning or have any other questions, please contact Karen Hildenbrand at 812-660-0870.
Game of Chance Stand:
The Game of Chance Stand is for those who are 18 and older. Tickets are purchased by a player, then the player selects from a group of prizes what they would like to win. They place their ticket in the jar that coordinates with that prize. One ticket is drawn from each jar at the end of the day. This game appeals to both men and women.
All prizes are donated. Some of the items that have been donated in the past are any kind of “baskets” such as movie baskets, snack baskets, kitchen baskets, kid fun baskets just to name a few. Crafts, woodworking items, handmade blankets, pillows, and gift certificates are also great donations for this stand. Donations are accepted now; they can be dropped off at the parish office or to the chairperson. If you have any questions or have a donation, please contact Paula Jochim at 812-568-0102.
Duck Pond Stand:
The Duck Pond Stand is for younger children. The child selects a duck from the pond and wins a prize that coordinates with the number on the bottom of the duck. Some prizes have been purchased, but we would like a few items donated to reduce expenses. We are looking for new Matchbox cars, 4 oz. bottles of bubbles, and Play-Doh. Please contact the church office with any questions.
Dining Room:
The Dining Room serves chicken dinners with all the fixings and dessert! The desserts are all donated. Pies (which receives the most requests) and cakes are needed for this area. There is also a need for tomatoes and green/red bell peppers for the dinners. Tomatoes and bell peppers should be brought to the Dining Room kitchen on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Pies and cakes should be brought to the Dining Room the morning of the Picnic!
Thank you
Thank you for sharing your time, talents, and treasures at the Mariah Hill Picnic!
